Sometimes we adults choose the easier path by sitting the kids down in front of the TV or Playstation while we focus on balancing the checkbook or getting dinner ready. Or sometimes we feel guilty we don't have as much time to spend with the kids because we work long hours or maybe because we don't know understand ourselves what our kids are learning; and buying the Nintendo Wii makes us feel better about ourselves. Fine. But spending time with your kids is something they'll remember after they're grown and have kids of their own. More importantly, making learning a fun and family thing gives kids more time learning things that are relevant instead of playing those shoot 'em up or other games that waste hours and hours time after school. Learning help children accumulate skills they can use in the future, games do not.
Beginning Friday I'll be either posting a review for an online game from one of the sites on my homepagestartup page or posting an activity I found online or writing up an activity I know of.
If you'd like an activity targeting a specific curriculum area and age, send me an email.
