My homepagestartup site and the accompanying blog did start with a college course but the whole experience took a momentum all it's own when I started looking for good sites for the two kids I TA for. They wouldn't get music and I'd often hear them say "Why am I taking this stupid class" from the frustration of not getting it. Everything about notes, half notes, beats, staff was too abstract and it had an awfully tremendous affect on them. I found another site on poissonrouge.com but the San Francisco Symphony has a great site for kids.

What I Like:
It's an interactive, visual and auditory experience. Most of all it's fun!
I love the fact that the site explains concepts like pitch and rhythm and then students can interact with the site and listen and hear the differences.
Things to Check out:
The Music Lab-Read, listen, interact and understand the basics of music.
Radio-Listen to some of the best classical pieces by composers like Bach, Mozart and Beethoven. An absolute joy!
Enjoy!
For most of us, at some point in our childhood lives learning became an experience like the much dreaded brussel sprout. It’s there in front of us and it’s supposedly good for us but we know better. We poke and roll it over but it still looks and smells vile. Sadly, this is an experience that too many of our kids go through. If learning was more like chocolate-covered brussel sprouts our children would be the wiser. So my goal is to make learning like a box of chocolate-covered brussel sprouts.
